Revenue Collection
System
RCS can support many
types of peripheral equipment. These can
increase productivity and provide better
customer service. All of these can be attached
to a PC via serial or USB ports. Below are
peripherals that the client may want to consider
for increasing efficiency, reducing errors and
processing costs.
 |
Bar Code Scanner
A standard feature of RCS includes the ability
to connect a Bar Code Scanner to the PC cash
register. The Scanner recommended is a self
sensing bar code scanner that will automatically
read the bar coded document when the document is
positioned within the programmable range of the
scanner thus providing hands free operation.
Cash Drawer
RCS supports many types of cash drawers.
Normally, they are separate bill and coin roll
storage, spacious compartments to separate
media/currency, full function lock that can be
random or keyed alike, steel ball bearing slides
and under counter brackets to name a few. The
electronically controlled drawer can also have a
removable insert with a locking cover. All open
and close drawer requirements are user defined
by the RCS System Administrator on a transaction
basis.
Check Encoder
After a check has been validated, it could be
placed into an encoder. This automatically
encodes the amount of the check in MICR ink at
the end of the MICR scan line. This can save The
client bank processing fees. Usually this amount
is 1/2 to 5 cents per check. Since it is done
automatically during the transaction there is no
chance of a user mistaking the amount.
Credit Card Readers (Magnetic Stripe
Reader)
RCS supports credit card processing completely
through the register application. The MSR Stripe
Reader contains a head to read Track-2 from
credit cards. The stripe information (i.e.
account number, expiration date and
discretionary data, etc.) is captured and
automatically transmitted to your processor for
authorization. The authorization process runs
completely through the RCS program.
Debit Card Readers
The system will support devices that will allow
users to accept debit cards. There are many
different types and the bank, which the client
would use, determines the type of equipment
required. The advantage to using these is that
the money can be verified and transferred
automatically to the clients account. This
increases revenues by depositing money faster
and gaining interest on that money.
Imaging
Imaging scanners can be attached to the RCS
register station to capture bill and check
information. These pictures can be attached to
the transaction in our electronic journal to
provide instant copies of checks and bills (this
is an additional module add-on to the RCS
product). Some of the imagers include OCR, MICR
and MSR capabilities. The electronic files can
then be used for depositing to the bank in ACH
or Check 21 processing.
MICR Check Scanner
The MICR Check Reader device can read/scan MICR
encoded checks information can be either
stand-alone or incorporated into the printer.
Normally scanned are the bank transit
identification, account, and check numbers.
Check information can be combined with the
tendered amount and stored in a transaction
history file. A Check Register for each cashier
is printed on demand at closing, utilizing the
receipt printer. This eliminates the need to add
up the checks (ten key) when balancing. Also,
this device can be used to cross-reference an
internally controlled bad check file.
OCR
The OCR device with interface reads OCR scan
lines and will automatically place scanned
information into the transaction. The fonts
available are OCR-A full alphanumeric, OCR-B,
Euro banking A and B, E13b, and Post-Net.
Pole Display
This device displays messages to your customer.
Date, time, transaction information (type and
amount due) as well as scrolling and stagnant
message can be displayed on the pole and are
completely user maintainable.
Receipt Printer
PCI provides several different kinds of printers
to satisfy your unique requirements. We normally
use Epson combination receipt, journal, and
document validation printers. Depending on the
features desired the user can choose from
Impact, Thermal or Ink-Jet models. Our software
allows for all details of a transaction
positioned between user defined header and
trailer messages (Optionally used for printing
of a credit card signature slip). Depending on
the model, a continuous journal audit can be
included that records all details of a
transaction excluding the user defined receipt
header/Trailer information. Most printers
include a form validation area used for document
and check validations. There are no limitations
of paper widths to insert into the validation
slot and some of the printers will accept up to
5 carbon copies and preprinted forms for
validation printing.
